Apple Fritters by Kerry Spencer

Steps

  1. Sift together the first four ingredients.

  2. Add the milk and egg to the dry ingredients and beat until smooth with a spoon.

  3. Add the chopped apples to the mixture and blend them in with the spoon until incorporated.

  4. In a separate 4" deep bowl with cover, combine the remaining 3/4 Cup of sugar with the cinnamon and stir to combine and set aside.

How to make

Drop by teaspoonfuls into 1 1/2" vegetable oil that has been brought to 375 degrees in a deep fry pan. Leave to cook in oil for four minutes or until brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towel. Add to bowl with the cinnamon/sugar mixture and cover with lid to shake gently to coat. Then store in a clean tin or storage container for freshness. Enjoy!

  • 1/4 Cup Sugar

  • 1 Cup Flour

  • 1 teaspoon Salt

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder

  • 1/3 Cup Milk

  • 1 Egg

  • 1 Cup finely chopped Michigan Apple of choice

  • 3/4 Cup Sugar

  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
